the biggest problem putting in a modern auto. trans. is you have to remove the crossmember that the bell houseing sits on. A better choice is a later model 4 or 5 speed manual. If you are retaining the stock rear end, an o-drive trans is preferable manual or automatic to give you better highway cruiseing.
