I have the same problem, but it sticks enough to raise the RPM up to about 2000 rpm which works well enough for anything I need. I do know the choke cable has been on there for at least 30 years, I don't know if it is original or not, but it works fine. It is hard to pull out as well, (but not real bad) I can't decide if the new reproduction throttle cable is really good cause it doesn't bind up. Or really bad because it doesn't bind up.....I been thinking about crimping the sheathing a bit, but since I don't really ever use it, just put it in mostly for looks, (to fill up the hole) It will be just fine, not to mention it seems about a foot too long. It ought to start rusting up here in a year or two anyway.
