I have used stock 12 volt coils with ballast resistors on both of my pertronix units . Did not see the need for a Hi Po coil on something with 8 to 1 comp . I would be a little gun shy of using the HEI from stovebolt eng co in a 235 or 216. I had him send me 2 and both did not drive the oil pump. If i was not watching for it ,i would have had a blown motor .Very exp dizzy that was no good . I also sent back a carb that was new. It was so full of brass shavings and other material, i had a hard time thinking it was new. Long time for my refund on my card also . The pertronix has been a no brainer for my cars and truck .
