Hi All. I’m new to this whole game of restoration but I’ve always had an interest in cars, trucks. All vehicles in general.
My history, I’m a 63 year old grandfather, retired. With a lot of time on my hands except when I’m babysitting my grandkids or riding my Harley. I’ve lived in central Ohio all 63 years except for the four I was in the Marine Corp. By the way, John, SEMPER FI. Myself 68 – 72 , RVN69-70. Work at a local chemical plant for 33 years and had the chance to retire early.
My truck story , A couple of years ago my son said that he wanted to do a ground up restoration of a Camero , if he could find one worth the effort. It would be cheaper to buy a new vehicle. So I mentioned to him that older trucks are a little cheaper to get his hands on. Long story , short , we found a 1966 c10 lwb , fleetside. Now , in an effort to find as much information about this truck as I could , because it’s not stock(350 4 barrel , 350 turbo trans) I started trying to find out as much about it as I could by way of my local Chevy dealer and he suggested checking out this site. I told him what we wanted to do with the truck , he said that you guys would probably be my best resource for all the information and help in general that I was looking for.
Our game plan is to bring the appearance back to stock , or as close as we can , but put a lot of donkey under the hood. We want to stick a 454 with dual quads in it. And in an order to save some money , I wanted to rebuild one. Now , I’ve never done this before so I’ll probably nerd the heck out of everyone or at least you’ all will get sick and tired of me. I’m also trying to find just exactly what my truck was built to look like. I guess I’m trying to possibly locate a build sheet on it. Looking for trim options , color , gear ratio’s etc.
