Yes, your parts store should be able to bench test your generator. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to work on them, either. Follow the instructions in the shop manual to work on it. If you search this forum you should find instructions on how to test the generator and determine if it is the gen or the voltage regulator that is your problem.
