Thanks for the replies. Tom, I hadn't thought of that and I don't know the answer. I guess I'll have to get under the hood and see what the vacuum advance does once pressure on the accelerator is released.
After my original post I thought of the place where the pedal linkage passes through the firewall, so I'll check that out.
Jerry, is it best to take the carb off to check for the wear you describe?
