I had the exact same issue a few weeks ago. That's the right bracket but the wrong pulley. I had to remove the pulley off the old alternator and then all was fine. I have no idea what application that pulley is for but it sure doesn't work with 60's 292's!.
alternator pulley As you can see, it's not that I have to use the outer pulley, it's that the inner pulley has a 3/4" space before the groove starts.
What happened to your old pulley?
