The reaction I've seen from young folks when they see my original '40 is: "What are all those levers and buttons for?????" Doubt they could figure out how to steal it. No bears around here! And, I run 12 volts with original starter and switch.
I have a buddy who I had helping me work on mine and getting the timing set up. He hopped in and was pushing and turning and everything. I let him go for a few minutes (one of those who thinks he has to know everything about everything) and I finally asked "you need some help?". Surprisingly, he said, "yeah, how do you start this thing?".
The funniest part is he has two 50 model chevy trucks that he is someday going to fix up. Obviously he hasn't spent much time sitting in them. Foot stomp is definitely a theft deterrent.
