No such thing as a dump question. Your actually very wise to ask before hand.

All of the high amperage Alternator conversions I've been installing come with an extra by-pass wire to divert some of the alternator current directly back to the battery and not through the ammeter. I would also be wise to purchase (2) fusable links "two wire size small then the wire your protecting" to install on the BAT terminal on the alternator and the other end crimped onto the wires going to the ammeter and the battery. If their is a problem the fusiable link melts and not the entire wire which will save you a lot of wiring repair time.
