If you think there is a drain from the battery, remove one of the battery terminals and take a voltage reading between the battery terminal and the cable, should be 0v, you can also remove the battery lead with the engine running, if the truck stays runing the gen is ok, you should have between 7.0v and 7.5v across the battery when charging as well
