I have noticed quite a few posts on the 6 to 12V conversion topic . Things like fuel guages are a problem with a easy solution . Electronics supply Places like Radio Shack sell simple solid state voltage regulators for a couple of bucks . A 7806 1 amp 6V regulator will provide a 6v source for a original 6v gauge and sender unit . Just wire in the 7806 between the 12V source ( ignition switch ) and the gauge HOT terminal post . Ask them for a diagram of the 7806 and away you go . It's simple to wire in , only 3 connections .
5 amp 6V regulators are also easy to buy , these can run original 6V wiper motors from a 12V source ??
Because 6V is being dropped some heat is generated so be aware that a heat sink may be needed in some cases.
