I thought most stock cooling systems for stovebolts in the early years, were non pressurized systems?
Having said that, the temps you described should not be a concern unless you noticed, coolant being pushed out of your system, engine detonation (pinging), loss of power, unusual vapours out the exhaust, oil discolouration, etc.
Airflow can be disrupted by heat dissipation off asphalt, concrete, excessive car exhaust, and quartering winds.
Also thermostats can hiccup on occasion, even when new out of the box.
Head to your local rad shop for an infrared check of your cooling systems accuracy compared to what you gauge says!
