For years I just use one lonely key in each of my vehicles. Never thought about scratches just don't like a big key ring in my pocket and it's easier to leave the key in the car or truck when I want to.

I remember my mother got a new car once and the dealer said you can't have all those keys hanging on your ring, it'll wear out the ignition switch.. she did have a handful on there. Makes sense and another reason to just use one key.
