So I have been having a persistent oil leak from the Rear Main Seal in my 58-62 235. I now have both Rubber and Rope style rear main seals. I'm positive I should be able to install a Rubber style seal in my year engine, but the last one did not work, did I miss something?

I'm reading the instructions on the back of the Rubber Style seal and am a little confused by some of the terminology used. And I quote
" Apply a thin coat of anaerobic sealant to the bearing cap chamfer and to the bearing cap mating surface adjacent to the seal but not on the seal end "

1- What is Anaerobic Sealant?
2- What is the Bearing Cap Chamfer? ( Is it the channel the Rubber Seal sits in ? )
3- Do I really apply sealant between the block and bearing cap?

Sorry for yet another Rear Main Seal question, but I did do a search and it did not turn up anything. Thanks for your time
