For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2000 Posts: 1,182 Red dot, center of chest ... | | Red dot, center of chest ... Joined: Mar 2000 Posts: 1,182 | This is the original post by TinyJaime. My truck is a 1956 3100 step side with a big back window. I live in Las Vegas so I am not worried about snow and salt, just the heat. I will be picking up my 235 block back from the machine shop this week. The truck colors I have selected is preformance yellow and black with chrome lights, grill, and bumpers. I wish to paint the block, head, water pump, valve cover, side cover, and oil pan preformance yellow, however I have a few questions.
How many cans of paint is needed?
What temperatures should the paint be able to withstand?
Any recommendations or precautions should I be aware of?
I will paint the motor preformance yellow and the fan blade, starter, & generator black. What would be a nice color for the clutch housing and 4 spd transmission?
Lastly I found this paint on the web it matches the color I wish to paint the body, would this be good for the motor? VHT 550°F (288°C) Engine Enamels™ are available in a wide range of colors, including exact match factory colors. All colors have excellent durability and superior heat and chemical resistance. They are specially formulated to withstand corrosion, rust, salt spray, chemicals and additives of today’s gasoline blends and degreasers. VHT 550°F (288°C) Engine Enamels™ are a unique blend of urethane and ceramic resins, which produce a tough and long-lasting finish for engines, engine accessories or wherever a tough durable heat or chemical resistant finish is needed.
If anyone has a recommendation of paint type or manufacturer that produces it in a spray can I would love to hear it. I do not want to cheap out for a few dollars.
