IMHO, Corn Head grease is an acceptable substitute for the "correct" grease, whatever correct may be. "Steering gear lubricant" is the correct lubricant, but what is that? The main goal is to use a lubricant that is self leveling, not too thick and not too thin, but just right

I mixed my own grease by using a combination of 120 weight gear lubricant and bearing grease. Mixed it together until I got the consistency I wanted. For me, that was easier than find Corn Head grease and I can replicate it at any time if top-off is ever needed.
