I was going to check engine illustrations, but I think they would be unreliable. An original photo, or your unmolested/unchanged engine are better "evidence".
Some of the "original"-color discussions about A-D trucks on the VCCA site are confusing: discussions about engine, running board, and wheel colors. They sometimes contradict themselves on what they consider to be valid documentation.
