I suggest:
1. Put the stove on medium.
2. Set the balancer on with the hub side down.
3. pick it up every so often and when you can't hold it for more than 2 seconds put on the mitts and slide it on.
Keep a hammer and block of wood close by but it may go all the way on without any tapping.

I'm planning on doing the rear seal mod to a couple of blocks this winter but fortunately for me I have access to CNC horizontal boring mills so I have nothing to make; just type in the numbers and let her rip.
