Curious to know what the steel lines are that seem to connect the intake and exhaust manifolds? I am only familiar with the older 235 engines...

those steel lines are part of an aftermarket set-up to supply heat to the carburetor base. the Fenton headers have ports for this purpose. a plate mounts to the bottom of the intake manifold to receive the heat. the plate, fittings, line come in a kit which is available from the header supplier. One can also use engine coolant to heat this plate - but I decided to try exhaust heat as the set-up is much easier.
