In order to use the existing door light as a 3rd brake light you must run a dedicated wire to it from the brake light switch. I say this for people with only one light on the door. If you have two lights on the doors you can just tie into the signal lights and they will act a signals too. That ought to get their attention.
If it flashes too fast get a flasher made for towing.
