I do have the starter with the plunger solinoid, so that is fine. My engine is from a 52 chevy and I think the car had a push button start but do not know what they used. I bought my ignition switch at NAPA also. The only problem I found was it doesn't fit real well and rolls around or twists.
I thought someone had changed to a key start and has found a real good key starter or found a way to install theirs. I like to take advice. I did not want to reinvent something that they found works.
