Jon, I can see the advantage to that type of modification, particularly in the summertime whem underhood temps can get extreme. Most of the time, the term "cold air intake" is a buzzword for one of the ridiculous intake systems like the K&N, that's just a half-donkeyed low-restriction "filter" that lets in enough dirt to wear an engine out in the name of "better breathing".
