I can see where getting enough angle and height might be a problem when using a floor sitting type engine hoist.
My thinking of removal of engine from these cars was using a overhead hoist which had adequate lift to come high and angle down considerable to clear the radiator yoke.
We just used a chain long enough to go around the assembly as a sling in the proper place for the angle we wanted.
I find boltiing with short chains to something up high sometimes limits the ability to work that angle need without a balancer.
