I'm new to all this and would like some advice. I have a new 6 volt battery and the truck starts with no problem. However the ammeter appears to read the opposite that I would expect. When the engine is running it moves to the left (-) and if I turn the lights on it moves back toward the middle. If the engine is not running and I turn the lights on it moves to the right (+). Shouldn't it be the other way around. I checked the voltage on the battery and it read 7 when the truck wasn't running and about 8.7 when it is running. Does this mean the system is charging okay? I also tried repolarizing the generator. Thanks for any help | | |
