on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 36 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 36 | So I picked up a 51-53 Chevy half ton rear axle housing to swap my 47 AD to bendix brakes. I have the housing just about de-rusted and ready to paint, but I'm having a heck of a time trying to get the bolt out that holds the spring seat and metal bushing in place. I looked at buying the new spring seat bushing from Chevs of the 40s and it comes with a new bolt and nut. Does that nut replace the apparently welded on 15/16th nut there now? And would it be a good idea to just cut the nut off the mount for the spring hanger? I don't want to just start cutting and accidentally ruin the mount. | | |
