Does your '53 non-PG engine still have the dippers on the rods and the troughs and nozzles in the pan? According to all the literature only '53 PG engines had full-pressure lube to the rods (drilled crankshaft) and insert rod bearings....
But having the rods machined for insert bearings has been around for a loooong time. Could the engine have been modified in the past?
