I am rebuilding a '49 6400, but am using an '05 E-450 frame. I can't use the original gas tank due to the drive shaft tweaking, so I bought an old gas tank (long 25 Gallon) that will fit... But... after I got it out of the old truck bed it was on, I found out it was Diesel.
I am using a '72 Olds Rocket 350, so I need regular gas. Is there anything special I need to do to the tank other than drain it, dry it and then use regular gas? I have seen some mentions that I need to check D.O.T. regulations because using a diesel tank for regular gas is like driving around in a big molotov cocktail... If so, why? Also, I looked everywhere on the MO websites but can find nothing even mentioning using converted tanks.
