Does it have the indicator bulb on the end of the signal stalk? If so, the wire that goes to the indicator gets wired to both sides of the output, with diodes to keep the signal from backing up to the opposite side than is selected. If you've got the arrow-shaped indicator lights on both sides of the dash, just wire them into the front turn signal circuit, so they don't come on with the brake lights. In that case, don't connect the bulb in the stalk to anything.
