I don't think it has to do with care, the panels are patterned from a single specific example [or sometimes from factory drawings], and may not be from your exact year - the pieces at the factory weren't always a good fit, so set aside for another - the misfits could have gone into the replacement parts stream and could even have been the "NOS" piece someone found to copy for a repro part
be glad there's something available to start that's close
