because the numbers on different items are unique to their own production, not to the vehicle they wound up in .... the various sub-unit departments sent along their assembled pieces with ID's and sequence numbers to the final assembly line, and your truck, number 2455 in the long list of trucks at that particular plant, happened to get engine number 4384 that was made elsewhere in '53 .... date codes on things might be of interest, sequence numbers are unimportant, and as Tiny points out, what's on your title is what really counts
