This thing hasn't had fresh gas in it since 1950 and since then has sat in a very dry climate with less than a cup full of old fuel in it. There appears to be a gummy residue coating the inside of the tank but no major rust problems. What would the best method be to clean this thing out?
Also, there appears to be a steel plate loose in the bottom of the tank which is much larger than either the filler or guage holes. Is this there for some reason? Overall, the tank appears to be in really good condition with only some light surface rust on some exterior places.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
