On the backside of the heater box (under the dash) the resistor is clipped in place. Feel the back with your hand, if you feel a retangle hole, then you're missing the resistor. A new resistor costs about $9. If there is a resistor inplace, check it for dirt, dust, and anything else that can cause it to start a fire, or alot of smoke.
