If your turn signals aren't cancelling, there might possibly be little return springs broken down inside the column....but I'm not sure if the old guys are like the modern columns in this sense. I had to do this exact repair on my daily beater Astrovan awhile back. Pull the steering wheel off, under it there will be a plate covering the innards of the column. A special tool is needed to push the plate down, and then you remove a c-clip from the steering shaft with lock ring pliers. Remove the holding tool, lift the plate off, and voila! you have access to the workings of your turn signals!
As for the stereo, look for terminals on the fuse panel marked "BATT" (battery +) and "ACCY" (accessory). The battery one is for clock/station preset memory, and the accessory terminal to run the radio when vehicle ignition is in run or accessory position.
