Like Fred says, Take a close look at those cables to the starter and the ground.Make sure you have clean,tight connections and use a little dielectric grease to keep the out.
Look closely at the frame edges and the body for sharp edges where your positive cable may have grounded out.You probably had a loose or dirty connection on the ground which caused more resistance in the wire.Those little electrons couldn`t take the pressure and had to escape somehow eek
