This is a longshot, but if you have a fan clutch the temperature control in the clutch could be effecting the turning of the fan between the day time outside temp and the night time temp. This is the only thing that comes to mind. If you don't have a fan clutch, try a new sending unit on the engine. Otherwise, I'm baffled, too.
