Welcome Billy, I'm no expert but I thought that the Maple Leaf trucks were all assembled here in Canada, but I guess I was wrong. I keep learning stuff all the time. I also thought the heaviest Maple Leafs were 3 ton trucks.
Put an ad in the swap meet, see what is available from fellow bolters. There are a few in Aussie land here, not sure what they have.

Yes had some contact from Tara & Lee from Alberta (Stovebolters) who ID'd it as a 1937 .
Yes Holden (which became GMH -General Motors Holden) assembled Chevs, Buicks, Oldsmobile's and Chev & Bedford Utes, Trucks.
They were imported as basic Chassis and then Holden configured a cab to suit (from what I can gather).
I believe they , Holden, used the same cab on Bedfords and possibly others in that era.
Anyway, I am trying to collate what I can, so maybe some Bolters in Oz can help.
