My wiring is shot. 49 Chevy 3100 6 Volt original 216
The truck has been sitting 20 years, and the engine was siezed. I just got it free (PB Blaster worked great), and I am trying to get it started. SInce my wiring is shot I need to find a way to bypass the ignition and everything (plus I dont have a key for it). I just want juice to the engine to get it started. How do I do this? I dont want to cause an electrial fire by using the ignition.
I have all wires to the starter disconnected except for the battery cable. The engine turns over, but I need to figure out how to get juice to just the engine. All the wires to the starter are disconnected, and the + wire on the coil is disconnected. I thought about connecting the + wire from the coil to the battery or starter, but didnt know how much juice should go through the coil?? I know it needs a resistor or something.
If the motor turns out to be good I am going to keep the original engine, if not I am going to go with a V8. I am going to do a compression check also.
