John, I am installing a splasher-235 in my 1953 1/2-ton. I took this engine out of a 1951 3/4-ton thinking it was a 216. When the mechanic tore the engine apart and took measurements it spec'd out to a 235. Apparently a PO replaced the 216 with this 235. Externally this engine looks just like a 216. The 216 was the Thriftmaster and the 235 was the Loadmaster. The 216 was for the 1/2, 3/4 and 1-tons. The 235 was for the 1-1/2-ton, 2-ton and the Forward Control models.
I replaced the Babbitt bearings with insert bearings.
