I just helped a good friend drop his crank in a 261. We torqued it down and it would not move. Untorque one bearing at a time and see if the crank is free between each untorque and retorque. We found that one middle bearing cap was in wrong. Once we changed that it was fine. Make sure that the F on the second bearing and R on the third (thrust?) are nearest their respective sides. The letter may seem to be upside down.
