Is this the fitting -
from your online albumn - or is that a brake line? You say it is brass. Most brass fiting are compression fitting, not all, If it is compression try giving it a 1/4 turn and see if that does it, if not then another 1/4 turn. if that dont do it get an empty gas can and a new full length of tube, drain the tank and pitch the fitting.
