Short answer is the 700r4 and 4L60 are the same transmission. They changed the name in later years. Add an E at the end of the 4L60 making it a 4L60E meaning the transmission is computer controlled.

The 4L80E, no manual version, are all computer controlled and much stouter than the 4L60.

What motor and rear are you planning to run, and how are you going to use this truck? My guess would be the 700r4 is adequate for most applications, but without knowing how you intend to use the truck its not possible to say for sure. If you want to run a fully computer controlled system you need one of the -E types.
