Hey everyone. Well I've searched and read and reread everything I can find, and still having problems.
Okay so here is the situation: I've got a 54' with a 235 and a rochester b, the engine idles perfectly, but when I step on the accelerator it gasps, stumbles, and (if i don't let off the pedal)dies. I found that I had a small pinhole in my vac advance, so I replaced it (that helped alittle. The carb has a brand new rebuild kit in it including the accelerator pump. there are no vac leaks around the manifolds and pluging the vac feeder line to the wiper motor has no effect.
The only thing that fixes the problem is if I place a piece of cardboard about 2/3-3/4 over the carb throat (choke without upping the throttle).
Any help anyone can offer would be great.
thanks
