49 one ton later model 235 engine 6 volt system mostly original wiring.
I have been reading for a while tonight and didn't see anything that fits my truck without hijacking someone else.
My truck was running fine and all guages working. Then one day the ammeter quit working. It wouldn't move from the middle First thing I did was pull the cover off of the regulator and clean the contacts. No change. Diagnosed probable bad generator. Removed the generator and took to a shop that specializes in starter/alternator repair. The kid working there had never seen a stomp starter but the owner/old man tested it and said it was good.
I put it back in and no change in the ammeter. I charged the battery and drove it down to the shop that looked at the generator. The old guy came out with a volt meter and a jumper wire and after a couple of minutes said the regulator was bad. He jumped the wires on the regulator and got the ammeter to work. He said the wiring and ammeter itself were alright. On the drive home the ammeter flashed working a couple of times then nothing.
I pulled the regulator out of my 53 6500 parts truck and put it in and polarized it and nothing.
I am hopimg for some ideas before buying a new regulator if that is no 100% the problem.

My new 1949 Chevy One Ton Dump Truck. Still have it but parked, needs a new motor.
