All the T-5's from S10's or even an Astrovan have too low of a first gear for anything but a stock 216 or a truck used to pull some weight.
The Camaro V-8 T-5 has the best gear ratios,the 2.95 first is identical to the original 3 spd in old trucks.The Camaro T-5 needs no reworking of the clutch spline or release bearing sleeve,takes the common late GM 26 spline clutch readily available in 10 and 11 inch diameters.However,the shifter is back too far for older trucks.You can adapt a S10 tailhousing quite easily if you're handy at such things.There's also an external shifter relocation kit available designed for Mustang T-5's that will work on a GM version.
The V-8 Camaro T-5 88 and up Worldclass is somewhat more durable too,a torque rating of about 300 ft lbs.up to the late 80's Camaro box has a mechanical speedo drive.
