Resistor "wire" is probably the only choice you need to consider. Metal-core wires create problems such as contact erosion inside the distributor cap, burning of the rotor tip, and more rapid spark plug electrode wear. They also create radio-frequency interference, but it's usually only evident if you're listening to the AM radio. The resistance wire is actually a graphite-impregnated piece of nylon string. Maximum resistance value of the supressor wire is 1,000 ohms per inch.
