The difference in short and tall intake is not car v truck. The parts book shows pass and truck using the same intake. The tall was used up through 1958, then because the hood was lowered on the car line in 1959 the shorter intake was used.
As far as which flows better I doubt there is much difference although the rated HP went up in the later years. That most likely had nothing to do with the intake.
Both manifolds take a difference length throttle rod.
