Denny, that's a really neat idea. Only hitch I can see is that if the seal has shrunk, it might be flexible again, but would still not seal. Definitely worth a shot. I know some folks that have connections at the UNC document preservation center. If you can't find a source for the camphor let me know and I will try to help.
