3B 'Bolter 3 Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 B. C. Canada	Hy bens48bigbolt, casting numbers are raised above the surface, and are cast into/onto the block. Serial numbers or identification numbers are stamped into the surface with number or letter stamps, hope that helps.
