Have a 58 302CI Straight 6. Engine turns over but the distributor does not move. If the engine was in a small easy to reach truck I'd just rip into it but this is in a All Wheel Drive 450 GMC & you need a ladder for everything. My question is does the distributor drive off the oil pump or the cam? If it drives off the cam I'd pull the valve cover ( after getting a ladder...
)& see if the valves are moving/maybe bad cam gears or drive key. Does this engine have a timing chain???? If it drives off the oil pump then I'd pull the pan. Anybody have any hints on where to start? OH!! & the distributor itself is firmly engaged to whatever turns it/you can't turn the rotor...
