My 46 Burb hinges rotate at 2 points. The track on the hinges pulls the lift gate in and then up.
While the later hinges may not be as complicated, they, the pins or the track could be worn to the point where the gate is not pulled up after it is pulled in place.
To eliminate this on my Burb I added replaceable bronze bushings that could be easily replaced.
